Kentucky back on track??
This past week saw several SEC teams in action, and unfortunately for many of them, it was a bad week. First Tennessee got thumped by Texas, albeit on the road. While Florida who had just re-entered the top 25 AP Poll a few days prior, dropped a disappointing game to Florida State, perhaps payback for the Gators destroying the Seminoles on the gridiron.
Kentucky bounced back with three straight wins after the Gardner-Webb loss. The most recent win was a struggle though as big blue managed only 62 points and won by 10 over a much inferior Stony Brook team.
Two teams remain undefeated overall, the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Ole Miss Rebels. The Commodores are a dangerous team coached by a very underrated Kevin Stallings. I watched their win over Utah State in the South Padre Invitational and they have a great forward in Australian Andrew Ogilvie. They beat Bradley to claim the title at South Padre, and I watched the Bradley/Iowa State game and Bradley is a good fast-breaking team so for Vanderbilt to beat them is a very good sign for them. The Rebels at 5-0 look good but haven’t been tested, their first real test of the season comes this Saturday against New Mexico with the new head coach Steve Alford.
After a bad loss at Providence, the Arkansas Razorbacks came back with a solid win over Virginia Commonwealth. They have a huge test against the pressure defense of Mizzou tonight.
Here are the SEC standings to date,
Vanderbilt 0-0 5-0

[...] playing as good as anyone right now and their 11th ranking will only rise through conference play, their loss to Texas doesn’t look half as bad now as Texas is a legit top 3 team. The Vols are an elite eight [...]
