Nick Saban And The Fallout

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Well first I’d like to give a quick heads up for the lack of posts the past two days. I took a softball off my ankle and had pins put in it and just got released today. A little sore but back at my love the SEC.

Seems not everything is peachy in Alabama as backup quarterback Jimmy Barnes quit the team as he said he wasn’t going to give up his dignity to play. He cited verbal abuse as the main reason for him quitting the team. he said he just couldn’t play under that. of course Nich Saban was I don’t understand what he was talking about. This is a fact of Nick Saban coached teams from LSU to the Miami Dolphins. Saban has always treated players like this and it’s not going to stop anytime soon. I guess the end results makes it alright in some people’s eyes. of course not everyone as Jimmy Barnes didn’t see eye to eye with Saban’s tactics.

Blogger Asked To Leave

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

This is a little off topic, but felt was something that needed to be said. A blogger who worked for a Louisville paper was giving updates at the College World Series about the Cardinals baseball team and was asked to leave by the NCAA as they said it violated their rules to do that. I mean all he was doing was keeping his readers updated.

Have we gone that far when information is censored to readers about a baseball game. Seems very stupid if you ask me. Hopefully the NCAA will change their policy.

Tennessee To Drop UCONN

Monday, June 11th, 2007

The Tennesse Lady Vols womens basketball program has decided not to renew their contract with UConn which is a little surprising and on the other hand really not hard to figure out. Most big schools try not to schedule big name programs during the year and travel also figures into it alot. I thought Tennessee would not ever do this, but i guess other factors went into the decision. The real losers were college basketball fans who look forward to matchups like this. It’s a shame.

Donovan Is Happy To Be Home

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Billy Donovan really never wanted to leave and after he left he realized that part of him was gone and he wanted it back. Friends and family mean alot to Donovan and his family and friends are at Florida and that’s where he wanted to be. After be let out of his contract with the orlando magic Donovan returned to Florida with a big smile and was rewarded with a contract paying 3.5 million a year. not bad for a guy who was leaving for somewhere else. The Gators should have another great season under the helm with Donovan and he’s happy to be home once again. I guess it’s true you can always go home.

Lady Vols Get Stopped In Softball

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

Tennessee ace Monica Abbott looked invincible against Northwestern in the College Softball World Series, but against Arizona is was another story. Arizona needed two wins against her and they got just that to capture the College softball World Series over Tennessee.

Arizona used timely hitting and got some great pitching from there staff to keep the Vols off balance to capture the title. It was still a great run for the Vols though.

Gator Fans Can Rejoice Again!

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

The Florida Gators look like they will have Billy Donovan back in the fold real soon. Behind the scenes the Orlando Magic and Donovan are working out a deal where he can get out of his contract and will be banned for five years from the NBA. This will let the magic and Donovan part ways and than Stan Van Gundy will be introduced as the next magic coach. No matter how you look at it neither side won in this situation.

Donovan probably should have thought longer before he took the job and the Magics should have made sure he wanted to make the move before he tossed all the money at him. No matter who is at fault hopefully people can look pass it and get back to basketball and enjoy both teams successes.

Billy Donovan Banned For Life?

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Looks like Billy Donovan has painted himself into a corner and no real way out of it. Rumor is if Donovan does get out of his contract with the Magic he could be banned from the NBA to coach which is so stupid if you ask me. The Magics should just hire another coach and have him ready and let Donovan out of his contract and head back to Florida. Donovan made a mistake, but banning him seems really stupid if you ask me.

The Magics are in a corner themselves as if they force Donovan to coach them they will have an unhappy coach and they look bad in the public’s eyes especially since they are based in Florida where Donovan use to coach. The best scenario for boyh parties is to call a news conference and let Donovan out of his contract have a new coach their and introduce him. Donovan can stand up and walk away and both sides win. It looks like this could get messy though. Stay tune for more details.

Billy Donovan Heading Back To Florida?

Monday, June 4th, 2007

It looks like the love affair with the NBA isn’t what Billy Donovan wanted after all. Donovan is going to be let out of his contract with the Magics according to different sources so he can go back the Florida and coach basketball. I have no problem with that, but if you had any problems with leaving Florida than why go through all this.

Donovan has disappointed alot of Magic fans and made alot of Florida fans happy. Either way Donovan will be paid well, but the way this has played out it has only hurt the fans and no one else. Donovan wasn’t really happy leaving Florida and probably should have just stayed their in the beginning, but ego and money got in the way. Now it looks like Donovan will be coaching the Gators after all and try for a three peat.

What’s Next For Florida?

Friday, June 1st, 2007

That’s the million dollar question for the Florida gator fans. What is up next for the Gators? I really don’t know what this means for the program. Some guys who maybe were heading to gatorland may now back out of their commitments and who will run the program next. Not alot of high profile names out their. The Gators may promote from within to keep the program going the way it was. no matter what it was a great ride for the Gators that have come to a quick end.
